National Association of Dental Plans

National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) is a non-profit trade association representing the entire dental benefits industry, i.e. dental HMOs, dental PPOs, discount dental plans and dental indemnity products.  NADP’s member dental plans provide dental benefits to 104 million of the 159 million Americans with dental benefits, i.e. 65% of the total dental benefits market.  Our members include major commercial carriers, regional and single state companies, as well as companies organized as Delta and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)

AHRQ, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the lead agency charged with supporting research designed to improve the quality of healthcare, reduce its cost, improve patient safety, decrease medical errors, and broaden access to essential services. AHRQ sponsors and conducts research that provides evidence-based information on healthcare outcomes; quality; and cost, use, and access. The information helps healthcare decision makers—patients and clinicians, health system leaders, and policymakers—make more informed decisions and improve the quality of healthcare services.

AIDS Action

AIDS Action is a national organization dedicated to the development, analysis, cultivation, and encouragement of sound policies and programs in response to the HIV epidemic. They do this through the dissemination of information and the building and use of advocacy on behalf of all those living with and affected by HIV.

Alliance of Genetic Support Groups

Alliance of Genetic Support Groups maintains an on-line directory of condition-related organizations, with links to organizational web sites. The Directory is not limited to genetic conditions and is a source to locate organizations for most health related conditions.

Alzheimer's Association

The Alzheimer’s Association, the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s.

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Their web site contains information on children and physical activity.

American Lung Association

The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The American Lung Association is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies.

American Occupational Therapy Association

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the nationally recognized professional association of approximately 35,000 occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students of occupational therapy. Practitioners work with people experiencing health problems such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, cancer, congenital conditions, developmental problems, and mental illness. Occupational therapy helps people regain, develop, and build skills that are essential for independent functioning, health, and well-being.

American Pain Foundation

This nonprofit organization was founded in 1977 to improve the quality of life of people with pain by using public awareness, providing information, promoting research and providing advocacy. Its website offers a Pain Resource Locater to help those with pain to find a doctor, caregivers, prescription assistance and other supportive services. 

American Physical Therapy Association

This national professional organization represents physical therapists. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research and education.

CancerCare

This national nonprofit organization, founded in 1944, provides free supportive services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones and the bereaved. Services include counseling, education, financial assistance and practical advice from trained oncology social workers.

Center for Diseases Control and Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans and for providing essential human services, especially for those people who are least able to help themselves.  Offers health related consumer information from the Federal Government.

This website is operated by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), a national medical organizations representing more than 93,700 family physicians, family practice residents and medical students. Founded in 1946, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, provides more professional education programs, and furthers more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world.

National Council on Aging

This website is sponsored by the National Council on Aging, a nonprofit service and advocacy organization. Information about Medicare coverage, staying healthy, and new disease information is available at the website.

NIH Senior Health

This website was developed by the National Institutes of Health to give seniors, as well as family and friends, easy access to health and wellness information related to aging. Topics are listed alphabetically. 

Parkinsons Disease Foundation

The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) is a national not-for-profit organization, a leading presence in the field of Parkinson's disease research, education, and public information. The organization has an annual budget of more than $6 million; corresponding relationships with 100,000 Parkinson's families and friends; and a range of programs.

The Lymphatic Research Foundation (LRF)

The mission of this national nonprofit foundation is to advance research of the lymphatic system and to find the cause of an cure for lymphatic diseases, lymphedema and related disorders. Its website provides information regarding the lymphatic system, clinical trials, the LRF newsletter and fund-raising events. Those with lymphedema or a lymphatic disorder may register at the website since patient information is a valuable resource for researching lymphatic diseases and recruiting participants for clinical trials.

The National Lymphema Network (NLN)

This internationally recognized nonprofit organization provides education and guidance to lymphedema patients, health care professional and the general public. Artists' Health Insurance Resource Center

The Artists’ Health Insurance Resource Center (AHIRC) database was created in 1998 by The Actors’ Fund of America, with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, as a health insurance resource for artists and people in the entertainment industry. Since then, with support from The Commonwealth Fund, it has expanded to include resources for the self-employed, low-income workers, the under-insured, the uninsured who require medical care and many other groups. The AHIRC website allows you to access state or district specific information.

BenfitsCheckup

This Web site is a not-for-profit managed by the National Council on Aging. It is a web-based service for low-income seniors to screen for benefit programs such as prescriptions, energy assistance, health care and more.

Center for Medicare Advocacy

Center for Medicare Advocacy is a private, non-profit organization that provides education, advocacy, and legal assistance to help elders and people with disabilities obtain necessary healthcare. The Center for Medicare Advocacy focuses on the needs of Medicare beneficiaries, people with chronic conditions, and those in need of long-term care.

Center for Medicare and Medicaid Rights

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services provides eligibility information and application guidelines by state. Medicaid is a program that pays for medical assistance for certain individuals and families with low incomes and resources. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and health-related services for people with limited income.

Citizens Health

Adult Children of Alcoholics

Drug Abuse Resistance Education

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous sprang from the Alcoholics Anonymous Program of the late 1940s, with meetings first emerging in the Los Angeles area of California, USA, in the early Fifties. The NA program started as a small US movement that has grown into one of the world's oldest and largest organizations of its type. Narcotics Anonymous provides a recovery process and support network inextricably linked together. One of the keys to NA's success is the therapeutic value of addicts working with other addicts. National Association of Children of Alcoholics

NACoA is the national nonprofit membership organization working on behalf of children of alcohol and drug dependent parents. Our mission is to advocate for all children and families affected by alcoholism and other drug dependencies.

National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors

National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

NIAAA provides leadership in the national effort to reduce alcohol-related problems by:  Conducting and supporting research in a wide range of scientific areas including genetics, neuroscience, epidemiology, health risks and benefits of alcohol consumption, prevention, and treatment;  Coordinating and collaborating with other research institutes and Federal Programs on alcohol-related issues; Collaborating with international, national, state, and local institutions, organizations, agencies, and programs engaged in alcohol-related work; Translating and disseminating research findings to health care providers, researchers, policymakers, and the public.

This national nonprofit provides free professional housecleaning services for qualified women undergoing cancer treatment. The Foundation accepts 50 applications a week, pledging to provide four free housecleaning visits in their service areas. Applicants may check service areas and apply online at the Foundation's website.
