Assistance Programs

The Motion Picture Pioneers Assistance Fund serves veterans of the theatrical community (exhibition, distribution and production) who are encountering an illness, injury or life-changing event.

Services and qualifications vary by program. All assistance is intended to provide support during a recovery or adjustment period. Treatment of substance abuse is not included.

Medical Rehabilitation
Short-term rehabilitative aid:

  • Medical Treatment
  • Physical Therapy
  • Psychotherapy
  • Home Health Care
  • Medications
  • Health Insurance

Requires five recent qualifying years of theatrical employment or five out of ten years prior to permanent disability.


Equipment Aid

Prescribed health-sustaining:
  • Hearing Aids
  • Emergency Call System
  • Mobility Aids
  • Diabetic Supplies
  • Blood Pressure Monitors
  • Home Health Accessories

Requires five recent qualifying years of theatrical employment or five out of ten years prior to permanent disability.


Vocational Rehabilitation

Health-based career change:

  • Skill and Interest Analysis
  • Career Counseling
  • Classes/Training
  • Job Search Support

Requires ten recent qualifying years of theatrical employment.


Emergency Grant

No other aid available for an unforeseen financial hardship:

  • Housing Aid
  • Emergency Food
  • Utility Payment

Requires ten recent qualifying years of theatrical employment or ten years prior to permanent disability.


Pioneer Quality of Life Grant

Retired, disabled, long-time worker facing financial hardships:

  • Monthly Stipend

Requires a lengthy career in the theatrical community prior to retirement and applicants must be at least 60 years of age unless permanently disabled with extenuating circumstances.


Funeral and Cemetery Grant
When loved ones can't pay the fees:

  • Modest fees paid to vendors

Requires a minimum of ten qualifying years in the theatrical community.

Requires current or prior employment in the theatrical community.
